The Group FD is a senior role within the Group Finance team with responsibility for the overall financial management and control for the Group.  You will report directly to the Group CFO and will be expected to engage closely with the whole of the Group Executive team. 
You will exercise overall control of, and have responsibility for, all financial aspects of the Group’s strategy. You will analyse performance, contribute that analysis to the financial and non-financial evaluation and implement recommendations based on the evaluation that improves profitable outcomes.

Description

Due to progression an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, commercially orientated Finance Director; the successful candidate will join the business at a challenging yet exciting time where there will be significant opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Reporting to the CFO the post holder will be responsible for the management of the Finance Function within the Group business, working as a key member of the Senior UK and Group management team to formulate and execute business strategy.

Key accountabilities of the role include:


Contribute to the formulation and financial delivery of strategy for the business
  • Effective and timely forecasting of financial performance to various stakeholders
  • Deliver group reporting requirements on time and to specification
  • Early warning and involvement in any corrective action on KPI's
  • Oversee preparation of annual financial accounts, liaison with the statutory auditors; ensuring requirements of HMRC are met
  • Ensure the business has a strong framework of corporate governance and ensure that the requirements of the Business Control requirements are met.
  • Enable a robust Finance system to enable the Management team to make informed financial decisions
  • Co-coordinating the preparation and presentation Business Plans
  • Manage the Company’s pension scheme where you will represent the company regarding the pension arrangements.
  • Identify business improvements, as a rounded contributor to the management team
Who we're looking for
In order to effectively execute this challenging role applications are invited from individuals who meet the following essential requirements only:
  • A fully qualified accountant (preferably ACA or CIMA)
  • At least some experience with responsibility for a complex finance function at Director or Senior Finance Controller level
  • A background in Construction / Contracting is essential; Applicants must have proven Commercial experience
  • Experience of operating in businesses delivering complex, fixed price contracts
  • Proven leadership dynamics, concern for impact and a track record of value-added contribution in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent personal organisation skills with a strong orientation toward internal and external structure
  • Commercial application and a good grasp of commercial considerations
  • Contract experience providing support for long term agreements
  • Experience in managing change processes
  • Ability to use metrics to report effectively
  • Experience of working in an PE / M&A environment would be a distinct advantage
  • IFRS knowledge is desirable but not essential

  • Be a qualified accountant ( ideally ACA accreditation ) 
  • Have held a senior finance role in a public company
  • Have worked in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment
  • Successfully built and managed high performing finance teams
  • Have deep technical accounting skills and knowledge
