UK Lighting Design Manager ( M40 Corridor ) £50k + Neg Basic Plus Bonus + Benefits 

Job Summary/Overview

Responsible for the efforts, results, and success of the organization's lighting design department. Provides technical advice and support to help the business make key decisions.

To contribute to the attainment of the company's business objectives by:
• Providing strategic, technical, and lighting design guidance to ensure that the company's design and commercial commitments are met.
• Developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound lighting design decisions are made.
• To support the sales and customer service teams to deliver exceptional customer service and exceed sales & profit budgets in line with sales strategy and business plan.

The Role 

• Provide lighting calculations and designs on behalf of internal and external customers
• Support lighting payback calculations (ROI) on a project-by-project basis in order to meet customer expectations

• Support the growth of the business and sales team by working closely with customers:
o Undertaking and performing site surveys and customer meetings
o Liaising with customers directly on their lighting design schemes

• Undertaking and performing site surveys and customer meetings if required
• Liaising with customers directly on their project product requirements
• Provide technical support to both internal and external customers
• Provide product data sheets and related information for all products
• Generation and management of electronic design files (BIM, CAD, DIALux etc)
• Manage all product data required for information and quotation purposes
• Be knowledgeable and able to apply relevant industry and segment guidelines, standards and regulatory requirements and be able to translate these to the sales team

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of HND/Degree in Engineering or Science based subject or equivalent technical competence
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant lighting industry experience with team management and technical and commercial submissions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current British and European Standards relating to lighting
• High level of technical knowledge relating to lighting products and associated components
• A high level of IT literacy
• An excellent working knowledge of CAD, light planning software (Dialux or Relux) and BIM.
• Able to engage effectively with staff at all levels with different levels of technical knowledge.
