Senior Applications Design Engineer (Heat Pumps) £45-55k Basic Plus Car + Bonus 

           
The Role:
Reporting to the Operations Director, the role assumes responsibility for Pre and Post order technical design support including production of detailed heating schemes, ensuring customers install the most appropriate products in development. Provide guidance and advice on the latest relevant legislation and government codes in relation to the products. Offer technical support to sales force and clients relating to product application and provide relevant training support for products and designs.
 
 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Heating Design 
  • Carry out Heat loss calculations and provide advice and guidance on the best suited product applications to deliver the desired heating requirements
  • Provide information and guidance in accordance with product implementation in achieving building regulations approval and matching dwelling emission rating levels.
  • Identify any ongoing personal training needs with particular emphasis on legislative changes. 
  • Understand and identify structural elements of building fabrics, insulation materials and their impact on the scheme design.
  • Take into account air change rates to ensure correct calculations are completed.
  • Carry out relevant, industry expected design calculations e.g. SAP, in order to substantiate the designs.
  • Provide Heat Pump design schemes for Domestic and Commercial developments.

Product Implementation

  • Provide advice and guidance in accordance with product implementation in achieving Government standards (MCS).
  • Participate at meetings, presentations, etc. as required in support of customer programs.
  • Ensure designs and products are suitably sized and selected to meet the requirements of clients/ projects.
  • Work closely with R&D teams, and other interested parties to ensure that new products and existing developments/upgrades are fully considered prior to launch.
  • Provide technical input and feedback into conceptual products/ schemes and support the NPI / Sales opportunity process. 

Interpretation of Technical Drawings

  • Understand, interpret and amend/ update as appropriate architectural drawings and CAD based designs.

External Support

  • Maintain accuracy of data with regard to customer and scheme information on CRM.
  • Liaise with all levels of customer to include architects, consultants, specifiers, wholesalers and consumers.
  • Liaise with field sales staff assisting with project and product queries
  • Attend meetings for design coordination and to resolve project queries as necessary.
  • Build relationships with other departments and parts of the Group to improve information flow.
  • Provide critical technical support in the delivery of target customer tender submission exercises; producing designs, technical submissions, tender coordination all to meet defined deadlines.

Training

  • Support training requirements for office and field-based staff as well as installation contractors and clients.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally, keeping all parties up to date of legislative changes and any critical information for awareness.
  • Consider and implement where agreed, means of improving communication throughout the team to include office, field-based staff and approved partners.

H&S

  • Act as an ambassador for all H&S matters relating to the design and implementation of Company heating systems; promoting best practice and helping to develop and implement company working practices and procedures.
