UK Business Development Manager £50-65k Basic plus High OTE + Car


The New Business Development role will be responsible for new business sales within the U.K. market for Lighting Distributors selling direct from the Manufacturer. This function will have sole responsibility for prospecting new accounts, setting up and running meetings and closing sales opportunities. This role requires you to become expert on the U.K. lighting market, understanding market dynamics competitor strategies, price and products.


Essential Duties

  •     Quickly builds relationships based on trust and understand the needs of prospective customers.
  •     Use your initiative to develop prospects and generate meetings.
  •     Win new business and maintain a sales pipeline capable of delivering targeted results on a month by month basis.
  •     Closing sales in best possible lead-time at best margin.
  •     Creating and deliver customer presentations.
  •     Prepare and deliver pricing, promotional proposals, and other business opportunities.
  •     Responds to quotation, literature and sample requests professionally and quickly; then follows up ascertaining interest.
  •     Responsible for ensuring customer relationship, product set up and supply chain are handled smoothly between customer and Asia team.
  •     To maintain accurate up-to-date records of all customer details, dialog and sales opportunities.
  •     To know and report on market activities ie competition, price and innovations.

Experience/Requirements

  •     Minimum 5 years+ of product sales experience in U.K.. Multi sales channels. (Retail: DIY, Discount, Grocery, B2B).
  •     Proficient in MS Office.
  •     Must have strong business/sales financial calculations capabilities.
  •     Travel, including international, will be required, should be 40% of time.
  •     Experience working in a high pace environment.

  •     Excellent communication skills, confident in presenting commercial and technical information, good listener
  •     Confident on the phone and resilient when faced with repeated knock backs
  •     Used to driving monthly and quarterly sales targets
  •     Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to cope with competing demands.

Education/Training

  •     BS/BA in business, sales or a related field
